In Kuala Terengganu, police foiled an attempt to smuggle in drugs following the arrest of a 31-year-old Vietnamese woman, believed to be a drug mule, on Saturday making it the biggest drug seizure in the state this year.
The woman was detained on arrival at Sultan Mahmud Airport in Kuala Terengganu when authorities discovered found more than 3 kilogrammes of syabu valued at 600,000 ringgit hidden in her luggage.
She was reported to have been on a flight from India after a transit at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, KLIA.
He added that the woman claimed to have been duped into becoming a drug mule by a man she met while on holiday in India 10 days ago.
She is currently being remanded for a week to facilitate investigations under the Dangerous Drugs Act, which provides a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
In the meantime, Kelantan police said a 48-year-old Vietnamese woman, also believed to be a drug mule, was arrested at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport from New Delhi on Friday, with 5.4 kilogrammes of syabu worth 1.35 million ringgit.
