Five security guards, who failed to produce their working permits, were among 50 foreigners arrested during an operation by Immigration Department in Melaka last night.
The security guards, aged between 20 and 30, were nabbed at the guard house of a high-end housing area.
The Immigration officers visited the guard house around 7 pm following a tip-off from residents who were suspicious of the security guards identity.
Initial investigation showed they were Nepalese and have been on the job for more than six months.
Since September 1st, 65 foreign security guards have been detained in the state for not having working permits.
Meanwhile, the other 45 foreigners including eight women who were arrested last night were found not to have valid travel documents or had overstayed.
