In Penang, a 47-year old man claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court for impersonating a member of the Kedah Royal family.
Roshidi Fadzil, was accused for posing as a Kedah Royal Prince, Tunku Roshidi Fadzili and cheating Ten Seng Ooi, 33, at the Banquet Hall of Hotel Cititel in October 23, last year.
He was charged under Section 419 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of seven years or a fine, or both if convicted.
Roshidi was also charged of failing to get the Registrar of Societies approval before using the symbol of the Members of Pertubuhan Amal Kebajikan Islamiah Malaysia.
He faces a jail term up to three months or a fine of not more than 3,000 ringgit, upon conviction.
The magistrate set bail at 10, 000 ringgit for both charges and fixed November 18 for case management.
