A major drug syndicate was busted after two drug processing labs, including one fronting as a massage parlour, were uncovered by police during two separate ‘Ops Cantas’ raids in Penang last night.
A total of 11.5 million ringgit worth of drugs were seized during the crackdown operation, which was the biggest drug bust in the state this year.
In the raid at Jalan Patani, Georgetown at 12 midnight, a man was nabbed after authorities discovered a massage parlour had been used to process drugs.
Authorities later raided a another premise at Jalan MacAllister, also used to process drugs and arrested three suspects.
Prior to the raids, police stormed a house in Bukit Mertajam where two individuals, believed to be drug dealers, were held in custody.
Several weapons, drug processing paraphelias and various drugs were seized during the operation.
All six detained were remanded for seven days to facilitate investigation.
