A father of two, attempting to smuggle 3.9 million ringgit worth of syabu into the country, was nabbed by the Kedah Customs Department two days ago.
In the 10.30am incident, the 43-year-old local man was picked up by a team of enforcement officers, while waiting for a bus at the Shahab Perdana Express Bus Terminal.
Authorities later found 20.4 kilogrammes of drugs, hidden inside his luggage.
According to state customs director Datuk Abd Aziz Abdul Latif, the suspect was believed to be heading to Kuala Lumpur with the drugs from Thailand.
The suspect is expected to be remanded until August 27, to facilitate investigations under the Dangerous Drugs Act which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
