Agent of exploited Indian maid goes into hiding After Asking For Maid's Kidney .

PETALING JAYA: The maid agent who allegedly demanded RM6,500 or a kidney from a foreign maid in exchange for her passport has gone into hiding.

Petaling Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Fadil Marsus said police conducted a raid at the house of the man, who was only identified as Ramakrishnan, in Sunway Mentari at 8pm on Saturday but found no one at the premises.

“Interviews with his neighbours suggest that the suspect vacated his home about three days ago,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code.

It was reported that 47-year-old P. Jayadevi from Madurai in India was brought to Malaysia on Feb 2 to work as a maid but alleged that her agent had exploited her.

She said she was trying to return home as her husband was ill and was asked to come up with RM6,500 or sell one of her kidneys in exchange for her passport.

Jayadevi said that the man, also an Indian national, was also withholding her RM2,400 salary.

President of Malaysia Global Rescue Humanity T. Kamalanathan said Jayadevi was undergoing a medical check-up at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre and was expected to return to India next week.

“We will be taking her to the Indian High Commission to verify her citizenship and get her a temporary special pass for her to go home,” he said.
