More than 100 thousand people made their way to the Aidilfitri open house of Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at Seri Perdana today.
The crowd started queueing at the prime minister’s official residence as early as 8am to attend the open house, scheduled from 10.30am to 4pm.
This is the fifth time that Datuk Seri Najib is hosting the Aidil Fitri open house since he took office in 2009.
The premier arrived at Seri Perdana at about 11am, along with the deputy prime minister and the cabinet ministers.
At 12.45pm, Datuk Seri Najib tweeted that more than 45,000 people had attended the open house.
Former prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamed Ali attended the open house as well all part of what was to be a very colourful crowd.
The well-wishers were served a variety of food and was attended to by 500 waiters and 80 chefs.
They were served mostly local delicacies such as satay, rendang, lemang, ketupat and nasi himpit and those leaving the function also received a goody pack, with children receiving ‘duit raya’.
