Police have identified at least three robbery gangs, involved in the recent thefts of a number of ATMs and house break-in cases in Kuala Lumpur.
City CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the gangs comprise of locals as well as Latin Americans.
Police are tracking down the robbers who are believed to be hiding in the city.
Nine cases involving the gangs have been reported.
Datuk Ku also revealed that police are hot on the trail of two remaining members of another robbery gang that has been targetting budget hotels and internet cafes.
Two days ago, three of their accomplices, aged between 33 and 42, were nabbed at a budget hotel on Jalan Ipoh.
During the arrest, police seized an army knife, break-in tools, a fake pistol, a parang and curry powder, used to blind their victims.
The suspects, responsible for at least six robbery cases, have been remanded until July 13 to facilitate investigations.
