A housewife and her two children were found dead at their house in Pulau Li Hua Housing Estate on Upper Lanang Road, Sibu, Sarawak, this morning.
The woman’s 43-year-old husband, a site clearing contractor, has already been detained for questioning.
The dead have been identified as Ling Yung Ming, 40, daughter Christine Tiang Soon Ai, 14 and Victor Tiang Soon Sheng, aged two.
Ling’s other son, aged 17, however survived.
Police said the three victims were believed to have been forced to inhale poisonous gas.
Sibu deputy police chief, DSP Zayadi Sebeli said the teenager told police that his father had turned aggressive when he asked him why his mother, sister and brother were dead.
However, the boy managed to escape when his father tried to grab him, by jumping out of a window on the first floor of the house and sought refuge at a neighbour’s house.
The bodies of the three victims were sent to the Sibu Hospital mortuary for post mortem.
