DRUG TRAFFICKING : RESTAURANT HELPER SENT TO THE GALLOWS -

At the Shah Alam High Court a female Vietnamese restaurant helper was sentenced to death for trafficking in more than 500 grammes of methamphetamine two years ago.

Judge Datuk Abdul Rahim Uda said Phan Thi Diem Phong failed to raise any reasonable defence as it was mere fiction and denial.

The 35-year-old was detained on arrival at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang on March 22nd 2011.

She was charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
