In Pahang, a man believed to be a member of a drug trafficking syndicate was nabbed in Jengka early this morning.
State Narcotics CID chief, Superintendent Yap Thoon Kuan said drugs, believed to be heroin, weighing 2.042 kilogrammes worth over 400 thousand ringgit as well as 5.5 grammes of syabu, worth 5,500 ringgit were seized.
Police also seized a Proton Wira and a handphone, belonging to the suspect.
Authorities believed the syndicate smuggled drugs from a neighbouring country and sold them at land settlement schemes in Jengka and Maran.
The suspect, who had been convicted for drug-related offences, were remanded until June 26.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
