Two brothers, who had been released on bail after being charged with drug trafficking several months ago, have been arrested again for the same offence.
The duo, aged 29 and 32, were nabbed by police during a suspected drug transaction at Jalan Semenyih, Kajang at 12 noon yesterday.
Police also seized a backpack containing 30 small packets of drugs, believed to be heroin weighing a total of 13.6 kilogrammes and estimated to be worth 720 thousand ringgit.
It is believed the suspects were acting as middlemen for a drug trafficking syndicate, which had been active since five months ago.
Authorities are currently identifying the source of the drugs.
The siblings had been remanded for a week to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the death penalty upon conviction.
